3/31/2023 0 Comments The vault castSince that time, gold deposit and withdrawal activity has slowed and the vault has experienced a gradual but steady decline in overall holdings. At its peak, the vault contained over 12,000 tons of monetary gold. Holdings in the gold vault continued to increase and peaked in 1973, shortly after the United States suspended convertibility of dollars into gold for foreign governments. “The Vault” isn’t airtight, but it works as a slick piece of escapist entertainment.Much of the gold in the vault arrived during and after World War II as many countries wanted to store their gold reserves in a safe location. To the very end, we still have some unanswered questions. All of it leads to a thrilling climax and then a rather strange epilogue. (Not to give too much away, but if Gustavo had seen “Speed” he would have been hip to one of the tricks pulled off by Walter and company.) “The Vault” takes detours into subplots involving a possible romance between Thom and Lorraine a British government attorney played by Famke Janssen, who is Walter’s ally but maybe she isn’t, and the story behind Simon and the portable radio he carries with him at all times. Jose Coronado does splendid work as Gustavo, the tough-minded, no-nonsense head of security for the Bank of Spain, who has an obsessive dedication to his work and doubles/triples/quadruples security measures when he gets wind of an attempted heist of the vault. But to complete the puzzle he needs the talents of one Thom Laybrick (Freddie Highmore), a genius-level engineering school graduate with a rebellious streak who is in the midst of turning down six-figure job offers from oil companies when he gets a mysterious text inviting him to change his life forever - and before you can say “screenplay contrivance,” Thom is all-in on the dangerous mission, which will result in either a lifetime of riches or a near-lifetime prison sentence. Walter’s crew includes the former MI6 operative and ace diver James (Sam Riley), master of disguises and cons Lorraine (Astrid Berges-Frisbey), the sentimental, reliable old hand Simon (Luis Tosar) and the German computer hacker Klaus (Axel Stein). Walter also happens to be a heist-master of considerable skills, so he maps out a crazy plan to reclaim the treasure from the vault some 120 feet below the Bank of Spain - a vault with a series of steel doors, a vault that floods to drown any would-be thieves. “The Onion Knight” on “Game of Thrones,” is squarely in his comfort zone as Walter Moreland, a salty old British deep-sea shipwreck salvager who finds a legendary treasure buried by Sir Francis Drake - only to have it seized because the prize was in Spanish national waters. The Irish-born Cunningham, best known for his role as Davos Seaworth a.k.a. Set against the backdrop of Spain’s run to the FIFA World Cup in 2010, this is a sometimes convoluted but entertaining thriller with some pulse-pounding sequences where nearly move is fraught with peril and we hold our breaths hoping our antiheroes can pull off the Heist of the Century (or at least ONE of the Heists of the Century). Santaolalla, Michel Gaztambide and Rowan Athale. Saban Films and Paramount Pictures present a film directed by Jaume Balagueró and written by Rafa Martiěnez, Andreěs Koppel, Borja Glez.

3/31/2023 0 Comments Gotham knights tim drake(Screenshots: GamesHub)Īs a solo game, Gotham Knights is an absolute blast – and while the segmented nature of the story and bite-sized quests are clearly designed for drop-in, drop-out co-op gameplay, I didn’t feel playing the game solo took anything away from my experience. Instead, I played through solo as Red Hood – a character who is typically a lone wolf anyway. The nature of reviewing a game, particularly in a busy release season, is that co-op wasn’t possible for my playthrough. Each of you can then embody one of the Batfamily, and fight together across a range of quests. Once you hit a certain point in the adventure – around an hour in – you’ll unlock the ability to play co-op with a partner. As one of the four members of the ‘Batfamily’, you must forgo the grieving process and hit the streets to fight back crime, using your unique skills and combat techniques to take on a range of villains. Gotham’s greatest defender might be dead, but the criminals of Gotham live on, growing bolder in the absence of the menacing Bat. In a flashy CGI cutscene, we learn of his fate – and of the video message he leaves for his family – Jason Todd ( Red Hood), Dick Grayson ( Nightwing), Barbara Gordon ( Batgirl) and Tim Drake ( Robin). This is the scene we open on – Batman’s last, desperate moments, clawing for breath as his enemy advances. In Gotham Knights, Batman is dead, killed in combat by the ever-resurrecting Ra’s al Ghul. That’s no bad thing though, with the influence of Arkham injecting this gothic co-op adventure with a real sense of style, free-flowing combat, and a glorious open world. We have the Batfamily, and one or two player co-op, and segmented quests, and a Red Hood with a bad haircut.‘ But try as it might, Gotham Knights can’t escape the shadows of the Arkham series – which filter into the game via every quest line, gritty character interpretation, and city street. ‘ The Arkham series? What’s that?‘ it seems to say. Gotham Knights seems determined to carve out its own legacy. 3/31/2023 0 Comments Rad electric bike dealer near meThe bike’s frame has also been revised to improve the handling and offer a longer bench seat for more cargo on back. While the flat land speed remains unchanged, the 750W motor has been reworked to offer improved hill climbing performance that should help riders summit local climbs 10% faster. The company is working on a second battery option to boost the range to 100 miles (160 km), though more on that in a moment. The RadRunner 3 Plus carries the same basic performance specs as all the earlier models, namely a 20 mph (32 km/h) top speed and a range of 25-45 miles (40-70 km) on throttle or pedal assist. And now we’ve come up to the present with today’s launch of the RadRunner 3 Plus. The RadRunner was refined over the years, first with the RadRunner Plus and then with the RadRunner 2. The design has been imitated all over the place but never truly matched. The step-through design, ease of carrying a passenger, and conveniently short wheelbase made it a runaway hit. It was unveiled back in 2019 (which is practically “vintage” considering the short timeline of e-bikes in the US), and it launched a new wave of low-cost utility e-bike copycats. A brief RadRunner historyįor those that aren’t aware, the RadRunner line is THE budget utility e-bike. This latest model sees several important upgrades to bike’s components, design, and performance. The new model, known as the RadRunner 3 Plus (not to be confused with the RadRunner 2 that is still available as the more budget-friendly model), is the brand’s new high-end electric utility bike. Rad Power Bikes is back with a new version of the company’s RadRunner Plus. 3/31/2023 0 Comments Festify 2021 spotifyMy friend, if you have spotify premium (I know, it's a pity that it doesn't also work with youtube) I recommend jqbx.fm It's where the music nerds hang out on the internet. I haven't been in on a while so I don't know how active it is at the moment but it's a fun way to share and discover and talk about music together. You join genre themed rooms with live chat and join the queue to add your song choices to the rotation. It also offers automatic 'fall back playlists' in case you run out of tunes. If you have Spotify Premium check out JQBX. All guests can vote on the songs they want to hear and add suggestions to the queue. Highly recommend if you want to find new music. 2021, Spotify Wrapped 2021 revealed the biggest songs, artists and albums. The community there is amazing (and very tight knit), I have discovered 99% of my new favourite bands on there, I usually hang in the room called ☁️ Chill Vibes ☁️. I discovered a website/app called JQBX a few years ago where a bunch of other music obsessed people share music through premium Spotify. To create your own Festify poster, head to Festify’s website and log in with Spotify. I have about 4-5 rooms I hop around when I'm doing work and JQBX has a few cool functions like starring songs which automatically adds it to your Spotify. It's got a small population so there aren't that many rooms but they play some really good music. If you're a Spotify user I recommend jqbx.fm. I kinda miss Radio being a main way to discover music HITC Sport - How to use Spotify Festify 2021: Forest Fest, Volcano Jam, and Unholy Space explained.Next, post it wherever you please, and get ready for confused followers to DM you asking where this totally sick festival is happening. On a phone, you’ll have to screenshot the poster. To put that in a raw figure, Spotify reported 345 million active users as of February 2021. If you’re on desktop, there will be an option to download your poster underneath each photo. Once you’ve found the poster that you feel best reflects your dream lineup, you can share it on social media. There isn’t any explanation on Festify’s site as to the meaning behind these festival names, but judging by the fairly nonsensical names of festivals past (see: Fyre Festival), we won’t question it. Instead, the festival title reflects which time interval you’ve selected, with “Volcanojam” being your last month of listening, “Forestfest” being your last six months of listening, and “Unholy Space” displaying your all-time faves. If you’re mystified as to why your Phoebe Bridgers-headlined festival is titled “Volcanojam,” the name is not meant to reflect the genre of your listening activity. Once you’ve logged in, you can choose whether you want your Festify poster to reflect the past month of your listening activity, as well as the past six months or all time. To create your own Festify poster, head to Festify’s website and log in with Spotify. If you’re ready to see whether your personal music festival is worth attending, here’s how to use Festivy. Plus, what better way to manifest all of your faves being on the same festival lineup than printing out a vision board-esque poster of your Festify? The platform also offers the option to feature your top artists from the past month, six months, or all time.Īs summer approaches, there’s no better way to hint what festivals you’re attending than by revealing your personal playlist headliners. Using your listening activity from your Spotify profile, Festify creates a shareable poster of what a music festival would look like with your top artists as the lineup. Living for festival season? Now, with the Spotify plug-in Festify, you can show your followers what your taste would look like as say, a Coachella lineup. Or, perhaps your Zodiac Affinity confirmed that you’re a Taurus through and through. Maybe your Spotify Wrapped confirmed that your 2021 was brutal as Olivia Rodrigo’s breakup hits swept your top five. Just like the Spotify friend activity bar can often expose your guilty pleasure listens, Spotify’s many plug-ins can often show a side of us never seen before on social media. No matter how candid your photo dumps and stories are, nothing shows your followers the real you quite like sharing your music taste on social media. (6) Thomas responds on July 11, 1915: “You have got me again over the Path not taken & no mistake…I doubt if you can get anyone to see the fun of the thing without showing them and advising them what kind of laugh they are to turn on.”Įdward Thomas was one of the keenest literary thinkers of his time, and the poem was meant to capture aspects of his own personality and past. I don’t suppose I was ever sorry for anything I ever did except by assumption to see how it would feel.” I wonder if it was because you were trying too much out of regard for me that you failed to see that the sigh was a mock sigh, hypo-critical for the fun of the thing. (5) Frost writes back on June 26, 1915: “Methinkest thou strikest too hard in so small a matter. It staggered me to think that perhaps I had always missed what made poetry poetry.” It’s still clear that Thomas doesn’t quite understand the poem’s stance or Frost’s “joke” at his expense. (4) Thomas responds in a letter dated June 13, 1915, explaining that “the simple words and unemphatic rhythms were not such as I was accustomed to expect great things, things I like, from. (3) Frost responds in a letter (the date is unclear) to ask Thomas for further comment on the poem, hoping to hear that Thomas understood that I was at least in part addressing his own behavior. (2) Thomas responds shortly thereafter in a letter now evidently lost but referred to in later correspondence, calling the poem “staggering” but missing Frost’s intention. (1) Frost sends the poem to Thomas, with no clarifying text, in March or April of 1915. The sequence of their correspondence on the poem is a miniature version of the confusion “The Road Not Taken” would provoke in millions of subsequent readers: Instead, Thomas sent Frost an admiring note in which it was evident that he had assumed the poem’s speaker was a version of Frost, and that the final line was meant to be read as generations of high school valedictorians have assumed. In the spring of 1915, Robert Frost sent an envelope to English critic Edward Thomas that contained only one item: a draft of “The Road Not Taken,” under the title “Two Roads.” According to Frost biographer Lawrance Thompson, Frost had been inspired to write the poem by Thomas’s habit of regretting whatever path the pair took during their long walks in the countryside-an impulse that Frost equated with the romantic predisposition for “crying over what might have been.” Frost, Thompson writes, believed that his friend “would take the poem as a gentle joke and would protest, ‘Stop teasing me.’” “ The Road Not Taken” has confused audiences literally from the beginning. Forward, you understand, and in the dark. Ever since infancy I have had the habit of leaving my blocks carts chairs and such like ordinaries where people would be pretty sure to fall forward over them in the dark. My poems-I should suppose everybody’s poems-are all set to trip the reader head foremost into the boundless. |
